What started with one man in a small garage in a Chicago suburb grew to international fame on the back of numerous industry innovations and unforgettable pop-culture splashes like Pimp My Ride. To see the timeline of these and many other awards and achievements, visit our history page.


Loyd Ivey, our founder, was a true pioneer and leader in the car audio industry. His remarkable contributions and dedication to the field earned him a prestigious honor from the Consumer Technology Association in 2013, recognizing his decades of service on CTA Executive Boards.


Building on his incredible legacy, Loyd Ivey made a bold move in 2016. With pride and confidence in the next generation, he promoted his son, John Ivey, to the position of President of MTX Audio. John, who previously ran Mitek's consumer divisions from 2003 to 2007 and then ventured into the commercial divisions, returned to MTX Audio to take over the reins and continue the legacy. 


Today, we believe sound isn’t just acoustics, it’s a place, and someone has to build it. Through product innovation and brand actions, we support mobile, powersports, and marine audio enthusiasts everywhere to strategically harness the true power of sound. 


After 50 years, MTX Audio remains an American family-owned manufacturer with an unwavering commitment to its employees as well as our customers. With a global influence in over 85 countries, our team of 1,200 dedicated employees continues to push boundaries worldwide.


MTX Audio is an international company, but its largest footprint is here in America, with over 1.5 million square feet of US manufacturing.
